I have decided to once again participate in the 2008 Charlotte NC Avon Walk for Breast Cancer scheduled for the weekend of October 25-26.

I did this walk last year four months after Monica's passing to prove to the world that even though Monica was no longer in my physical world, she was there with me in spirit. This photo is perhaps the most emotionally charged image in my personal collection. The shoes in the circle of legs are those of Monica. She continues to "walk" with me every walk. This photo was take at the close of the 2007 Charlotte walk.

Friends and family, I made a promise to her shortly before she passed that I would continue walking. I have to. This is what she would have done. From this day forward I will be walking not only in Monica's memory, but I will continue to walk for the millions of other people who are afflicted - not only with breast cancer - but for the millions of people who deal with all sorts of cancer. The boundaries between diseases are non-existant in my eyes. There is so much more work to be done and this walk brings large amounts of funding to leading edge cancer treatement and research organizations.

Who knows. The discoveries that are made tomorrow may help to cure you or one of your loved ones someday.
